CELEBRATIONS February 2024

February has been a rather gloomy month so let's brighten things up
by celebrating some good news...

Congratulations to Tonka Uzu and Elena Arevalo Melville who have a picture book coming out on World Book Day in early March.

Written by Elena Arevalo Melville and illustrated by Tonka Uzu

Elki is Not My Dog is being published by Scallywag Press and is about a stray dog who befriends a group of children:

Elki does not have a home – she is a stray dog who finds kindness in the company of a little group of children. They play together during the day, but Elki must stay alone outside every night because dogs are not allowed in their block of flats. One day Elki disappears and is found injured. Who will look after her and how?

You can find out more about the book by following the following hashtags:  #ElkiIsNotMyDog #scallywagpress #ElkiPictureBook. We wish you both every success!

Liz Flanagan is celebrating the release of the final book in The Legends of the Sky trilogy. The Pirate's Dragon, a middle-grade novel, was published on 15th February with UCLan Publishing. Liz says, "It's been a long wait for this one and I thought we wouldn't get there - so I'm over the moon and very grateful for this."

The Pirate's Dragon is the final instalment of a trilogy

The cover art is by Joe Todd-Stanton and the book is the third in the series after Dragon Daughter and Rise of the Shadow Dragons, which were previously published by David Fickling Books. The novels follow sworn enemies, Serina and Raff, who are thrown together in dramatic circumstances when caring for their young dragons. When the dragons are threatened, can they persuade their families to work together to save them?

We're so pleased the book is out in the world, Liz - it sounds wonderful! If you'd like to find out more, then please check out Liz's blog.

Finally, congratulations to Gaynor Andrews. Her debut picture book, Pandora and the Story Forge, illustrated by the wonderful Marie Alice Harel, is going to be published by Rocket Bird Books on 24th September 2024. More information can be found here and below:

No comments:

We love comments and really appreciate the time it takes to leave one.
Interesting and pithy reactions to a post are brilliant but we also LOVE it when people just say they've read and enjoyed.
We've made it easy to comment by losing the 'are you human?' test, which means we get a lot of spam. Fortunately, Blogger recognises these, so most, if not all, anonymous comments are deleted without reading.
