CELEBRATIONS March 2024

Although March 2024 has brought more rain than sunshine, we can always find something to celebrate...

A big congratulations to Farrah Riaz who has announced that her picture book, The Twirly Wiggly Dance will be published by Oxford University Press on 1st August 2024. The book is illustrated by Navya Raju and the cover was revealed on 1st March 2024. Farrah signed the deal in 2022 and so celebrating has been a long time coming.

Coming in August 2024

The press release from Oxford University Press decribes The Twirly Wiggly Dance as "celebrating the joy and community of South Asian Muslim weddings and is inspired by Riaz's own childhood experiences. It follows Intisar as she prepares to perform a group dance at her Auntie Mahira's wedding. Desperate to pull off a flawless performance, Intisar learns from her family that being herself is more fun than being perfect." It also includes a non-fiction spread about South Asian Muslim weddings.

Farrah is a London-based author with a Hindustani background and works in higher education. Her editor Katie Haworth says, "It's a truly celebratory story with plenty of heart."

We love comments and really appreciate the time it takes to leave one.
Interesting and pithy reactions to a post are brilliant but we also LOVE it when people just say they've read and enjoyed.
We've made it easy to comment by losing the 'are you human?' test, which means we get a lot of spam. Fortunately, Blogger recognises these, so most, if not all, anonymous comments are deleted without reading.
