Cover for Highlights magazine

By Mike Brownlow

This is a cover I finished recently for Highlights High Five magazine in the States. Happy, smiley animals for a bright, sunny morning. I painted it digitally in layers on top of the pencil rough I'd scanned in.

Here's to a good 2012 for us all.

  1. Great image Mike! I love seeing the different experiments you're undertaking with your work. This is fabulously fun!

  2. This is great Mike. I like that it actually looks a bit like Pennsylvania where the Highlights Foundation is - I've been there. Do you always paint digitally or was this something new?

  3. Hi Anne-Marie. I mostly paint digitally these days and my poor, neglected boxes of paints look at me reproachfully whenever I spot them in the cupboard!

I'd love to know more about Highlights. They've been very good to me recently.

We love comments and really appreciate the time it takes to leave one.
Interesting and pithy reactions to a post are brilliant but we also LOVE it when people just say they've read and enjoyed.
We've made it easy to comment by losing the 'are you human?' test, which means we get a lot of spam. Fortunately, Blogger recognises these, so most, if not all, anonymous comments are deleted without reading.
