Bath Children's Literature Festival
Looking for insight in writing for a younger audience? KnowHow editor, Eleanor Pender, takes a closer look at upcoming children's festivals in the UK.

For those of us who are not a teacher or a librarian, you're unlikely to come across groups of young readers in your daily life.

Reading books and getting into the heads of inspiring writers is a good idea, but why not go one step further? Here, KnowHow points you in the direction of three upcoming UK children's festivals this autumn, some with programmes out and some still to come.

Bath Children's Literature Festival
Venues across Bath  bathfestivals.org.uk/childrens-literature

Europe’s largest dedicated children’s literature festival, Bath Children’s Literature Festival, starts in late September with a programme overflowing with authors from Cressida Cowell to Laura Ellen Anderson. With events in venues across the city of Bath, other appearances include Catherine Doyle, Derek Landy, Chris Bradford, Michael Rosen, Greg James and many more. And, another plus, you get to wander around beautiful Bath in between events!

London Literature Festival
Southbank Centre, London southbankcentre.co.uk/london-literature-festival

The London Literature Festival is an 11-day festival in October with family events, dance, theatre, workshops and more. Highlights for younger fiction include Eoin Colfer, and Michael Morpurgo's I Believe in Unicorns, while YA writers should definitely check out the YA Lit Day. A day packed with YA writers, you can hear from Kiran Millwood Hargrave, Louise O'Neill, Patrice Lawrence, Muhammad Khan, Sara Barnard, Yasmin Rahman and more.

Northern Children's Book Festival
Various venues, South Shields, Tyneside facebook.com/northernchildrensbookfest

Running over two weeks in November, the Northern Children's Book Festival delivers a programme full of authors, illustrators, poets and storytellers within, and for, schools. Using the region’s library networks as venues, the festival ends with a free Gala Day celebration event for children and their families to meet the creators of their favourite children’s books. Programme details are still to be announced - keep an eye on their Facebook and other social media channels.

We love comments and really appreciate the time it takes to leave one.
Interesting and pithy reactions to a post are brilliant but we also LOVE it when people just say they've read and enjoyed.
We've made it easy to comment by losing the 'are you human?' test, which means we get a lot of spam. Fortunately, Blogger recognises these, so most, if not all, anonymous comments are deleted without reading.
