CELEBRATIONS April 2025
We're on a roll with the good news...
Congratulations to one of our very own sub-editors, Fiona Bannatyne, who has signed with agent Julia Churchill from A.M. Heath. Fiona began celebrating in January when it was announced that she had won the Writing Magazine Picture Book Prize with her manuscript, The Kiss You Might Miss.
Fiona says, "I found out I'd won the Writing Magazine Picture Book Prize back at the end of January – it was a complete shock but a lovely surprise. I only found out when someone from WriteMentor emailed to congratulate me. It was an absolute whirlwind of a day, I was on cloud nine. As well as winning £200, part of my prize was a 1-2-1 with Julia Churchill from A.M. Heath, who had been part of the judging panel. I had expected just a general chat about the publishing industry and maybe some feedback on my story so I was blown away when she offered me representation! We are currently on submission with my prize-winning text and one other, and I am still pinching myself that this is happening."
Writing Magazine has published a feature on all the winners of the competition in their May edition, which is available to buy now.
We wish you every success with your picture book submissions, Fiona!
Have you got good news to share? A new book? An offer of agent representation? An award? Don't be shy! Why not send an email over to production@britishscbwi.org together with a picture and any links so we can celebrate with you.

We love comments and really appreciate the time it takes to leave one.
Interesting and pithy reactions to a post are brilliant but we also LOVE it when people just say they've read and enjoyed.
We've made it easy to comment by losing the 'are you human?' test, which means we get a lot of spam. Fortunately, Blogger recognises these, so most, if not all, anonymous comments are deleted without reading.
