Sheila's Videos - How to Find People to Follow on Twitter

This first post in our series of social media how-to videos, brought to you by Sheila Averbuch, focuses on how to find the right people to follow on Twitter

Twitter is free to join, and allows you to listen to the tweets of any other member -- unlike Facebook, you don't have to be "friends" with somebody to hear what they're saying. That gives you a great opportunity to eavesdrop on what agents, publishers, literary magazines, and fellow writers and illustrators are tweeting about, from interesting upcoming events and competitions to promising new talent.

Even if you're an old hand at Twitter, I hope you'll find something of use in this video, which is aimed at helping you make better use of your limited time and ensure that this social network doesn't become a time sink.

If you have suggestions for more social media videos, leave a comment here, or visit spacekidsbooks.com, where I'll post other social media videos on a monthly basis.

  1. Great advice, Sheila! What programme do you use to make your screen captures?

    1. Thanks Candy. I use Screenr, which lets me resize the recording area to crop out screen areas I don't want to capture. A handy tool but I would like to try others if you know of any.

  2. Thanks Sheila. I must stop lurking on Twitter and actually do something constructive with it.

  3. Thanks Sheila, the video is really helpful. I need to set some time aside to start up properly, but I know where to start now.

We love comments and really appreciate the time it takes to leave one.
Interesting and pithy reactions to a post are brilliant but we also LOVE it when people just say they've read and enjoyed.
We've made it easy to comment by losing the 'are you human?' test, which means we get a lot of spam. Fortunately, Blogger recognises these, so most, if not all, anonymous comments are deleted without reading.
