BLOG BREAK Tours and promotion

Nick Cross presents his fortnightly selection of must-read blogs.

One of the things I particularly like about the Blog Break is when I'm able to do a themed special. So I'm pleased to say that this instalment is all about promoting your book.

Natascha Biebow was the lucky winner of the SCBWI Book Launch Award, which she used to fund an author tour of America! Natascha's post for Picture Book Den is packed with great advice about what she learned along the way.

In a helpful coincidence, Sally Poyton loved Natasha's non-fiction picture book The Crayon Man and has incorporated it into one of her brilliant story sacks.

Once you're on your book tour, how do you cope with the stress of the book signing itself? Ann Brady has lots of helpful tips.

Not everyone has the time or budget to go on a physical book tour, but blog tours continue to be a popular alternative. Emma Perry (who is a veteran of several blog tours) shares her wisdom.

Finally, here's a great example of how to present all of your promotional information in one place. Clare Helen Welsh's post about her new picture book The Tide has links to her blog tour, reviews and craft activities, all themed to coincide with Dementia Action Week.

We love comments and really appreciate the time it takes to leave one.
Interesting and pithy reactions to a post are brilliant but we also LOVE it when people just say they've read and enjoyed.
We've made it easy to comment by losing the 'are you human?' test, which means we get a lot of spam. Fortunately, Blogger recognises these, so most, if not all, anonymous comments are deleted without reading.
