BLOG BREAK Minds and Metaphors

Nick Cross presents his selection of must-read SCBWI-BI member blogs.

Metaphors! Authors love them, so it's no surprise they work their way into blog posts too. Here's Claire Watts discussing the creative pursuit of gardening, and how that does (and doesn't) represent her writing style.

More metaphors (ok, technically a simile) as Sheila Averbuch tells us why writing is like rehearsing a play that’s not written.

Just a month after featuring Rachael Davis discussing her debut picture book, here she is again with her debut children's non-fiction book! A Mind Like Mine is a subject very close to Rachael's heart, containing biographies of 21 great people from history who have lived with mental health conditions.

Publishing scams are, sadly, rife, and it can sometimes be hard to sort the genuine publishers from the fakes. So enter Ann Brady with some clear-headed advice on how to spot a possible scam publisher.

We love comments and really appreciate the time it takes to leave one.
Interesting and pithy reactions to a post are brilliant but we also LOVE it when people just say they've read and enjoyed.
We've made it easy to comment by losing the 'are you human?' test, which means we get a lot of spam. Fortunately, Blogger recognises these, so most, if not all, anonymous comments are deleted without reading.
