It's good news time! Let's take a look at what our fabulous SCBWI members have to celebrate...
There's lovely news for Sital Gorasia Chapman. Her picture book, Little Spruce, was published by Sweet Cherry Publishing on 26th September. Illustrated by Vicky Lommatzsch, it tells the story of 'A tiny tree's BIG Christmas adventure'. What a gorgeous front cover! Congratulations Sital and Vicky and we hope that your book brings lots of festive joy to young readers.

Dawn Treacher has a big announcement to make. She has just signed a three-book deal with Tiny Tree Publishing for a picture book series about a gardening witch, with the first releasing in June 2025. Dawn will be both author and illustrator which is incredibly exciting. We can't wait to hear more, Dawn, and congratulations!

Anna Orenstein has had a very busy month. Firstly, she presented her book, The Tree of Hope, at the inaugural Sutton Literary Festival. Here is what Anna had to say about the experience:
"On Saturday October 12th, I was honoured to be invited to the Sutton Literary Festival at the Wallington Library, where I led a special children's interactive session! We dove into the heartwarming true story, The Tree of Hope – a tale of courage, resilience, and the incredible power of nature.
"The Tree of Hope is inspired by the beloved banyan tree in Puerto Rico and the community that came together to save it after Hurricane Maria. It was a fun-filled afternoon for young readers and their families."

Secondly, Anna has also led some financial wellness sessions for SCBWI-BI members this month. We'll keep you posted if Anna runs any more.
And finally, congratulations to our Deputy Editor, Tracy Curran, who has announced that her chapter book, Unicorns in Uniforms: Dragon Inferno will be published by UCLan on February 6th 2025 and illustrated in full colour by Steve Wood. The series follows five unicorns (well, three unicorns, a narwhal and a zebra) who each represent a different emergency service.

Dragon Inferno centres around firefighter Blaze and her emergency vehicle, Quench, who are on a mission to stop a fire raging in Witchy Wood. Aimed at readers aged 5+ it's Paw Patrol x Super Happy Magic Forest.
This week Tracy also found out that she has passed her MA in Writing for Young People. Congratulations!
Have you got good news to share? A new book? An offer of agent representation? An award? Don't be shy! Why not send an email over to production@britishscbwi.org together with a picture and any links so we can celebrate with you.

We love comments and really appreciate the time it takes to leave one.
Interesting and pithy reactions to a post are brilliant but we also LOVE it when people just say they've read and enjoyed.
We've made it easy to comment by losing the 'are you human?' test, which means we get a lot of spam. Fortunately, Blogger recognises these, so most, if not all, anonymous comments are deleted without reading.
