ReplyDeleteAs the secret recording person, I have to say that it was a real treat to be in the room with David, and experience the full force of his considerable enthusiasm for stories and children's publishing. I'm glad that everyone else can now hear it too :-)
ReplyDeleteFantastic interview with a brilliant publisher!
ReplyDeleteNick what do you use to record these – what hardware to record and what software to host & publish? What a great job you and Catherine did and like others here I am loving every word David said. How can you listen to this and not love that guy!?
ReplyDeleteSheila, I have a Sony digital voice recorder that I used for this and Cath took a backup recording on her iPhone. I was a bit worried about the sound levels as David has quite a loud voice, but it seemed to cope fine. Jan did the actual editing and upload, so perhaps she can chip in about that.
DeleteSo glad you're enjoying them Sheila!
ReplyDeleteBy the end of the series we'll have used a variety of recording devices from Penguin's media suite equipment to my phone.
most of them are use the mic on my mac then edited in Audacity - i tried garage band but actually found Audacity easier. The first four are hosted in my free allowance on Soundcloud but David's took it over the limit so @lescarr and southampton uni came to the rescue! I'm working it out as I go!
Just catching up - wow, what a great interview!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely man. Such an inspiring interview. And so informative and helpful-thanks everyone involved :)
ReplyDeleteWe're big fans of the Phoenix here. I hope one day I'll have a book good enough to send him!
