School Visits Skills Share with Benjamin Scott and Helen Moss - 28 January 2017

Helen Moss thinking about
doing a school visit!

School visits are something that many authors worry about. After all it's not part of the job description is it? Some of us would much rather be sitting at our desks working on our latest WIP, than arranging bookings, organising insurance or even managing a rowdy crowd of school children.

Well SCBWI has some great news! There are still some tickets available for an insightful skills share session focusing on school visits in Cambridge later this month.

When is it?

Saturday 28th January 2017
11:00 am - 2:00 pm

Where is it?

Cambridge Central Library (in a nice Conference Room)
7 Lion Yard, - Cambridge , Cambridgeshire CB2 3QD

Who is it for?

This session is for everyone. It doesn't matter if you're a pre- or newly-published author or illustrator just beginning to think about school visits, or a seasoned professional.

What will be covered?
All aspects of the school visit process:
  • Generating bookings
  • Great ideas for the content and format of talks and workshops
  • Nuts and bolts of fees, insurance and book sales
  • Show and critique Powerpoint slides
  • Share your own great ideas (and possibly disasters!)
Everyone will be working together and there will be plenty of opportunity to ask and answer questions.

Who is leading the session?
Helen Moss and Benjamin Scott will be leading the session. Here's a bit more about them:

Helen Moss is the author of two Middle Grade mystery series, Adventure Island and Secrets of the Tombs (both illustrated by Leo Harts and published by Orion). She loves going into schools to talk about reading and writing and to run workshops, and is currently Patron of Reading for two schools and Author in Residence for a third.

He has visited a range of schools; running workshops and giving assemblies ever since Star Fighters was published (a series he helped to ghost-write). He has been a keen volunteer for SCBWI-BI since 2007.

We love comments and really appreciate the time it takes to leave one.
Interesting and pithy reactions to a post are brilliant but we also LOVE it when people just say they've read and enjoyed.
We've made it easy to comment by losing the 'are you human?' test, which means we get a lot of spam. Fortunately, Blogger recognises these, so most, if not all, anonymous comments are deleted without reading.
