BLOG BREAK Beetroot, Bunnies and Brains
Nick Cross presents his fortnightly selection of must-read blogs.
It's terrific to see SCBWI-BI's very own Cath Jones cropping up on Story Snug. In a fun interview with Catherine Friess, Cath talks about her debut picture book Bonkers About Beetroot and what inspired it.
Someone else about to publish their debut picture book is writer/illustrator Alina Surnaite with I Love You, Bunny. Alina celebrates in a post for Big Little Tales about the process of adapting her (originally quite creepy) illustrations for a wider audience.
There's even more picture book goodness with a post by Lucy Rowland for Picture Book Den. Lucy is interviewing her illustrator Ben Mantle all about their joint fairytale re-imagining Little Red Reading Hood.
Kelly McCaughrain has a fresh take on an age-old problem: the difficult second novel. How do you keep the joy when writing becomes a chore rather than a reward?
Ever considered forming your own critique group? Then allow me to point you towards Jo Franklin's excellent guide on the subject.
Finally, Space on the Bookshelf has gone Frankenstein-crazy to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Mary Shelley's sci-fi horror milestone. There's a whole feast of Frankie fun, including reviews, commentary and some ace story sacks (love the edible brains BTW).

We love comments and really appreciate the time it takes to leave one.
Interesting and pithy reactions to a post are brilliant but we also LOVE it when people just say they've read and enjoyed.
We've made it easy to comment by losing the 'are you human?' test, which means we get a lot of spam. Fortunately, Blogger recognises these, so most, if not all, anonymous comments are deleted without reading.
