BLOG BREAK Big Dreams, Little Libraries and Tiny Illustrations

Nick Cross presents his fortnightly selection of must-read blogs.

My favourite blog post this week is Kelly McCaughrain's brilliant article about The Definition of Success. What do you really want to achieve in your creative life?

Aaar-gh! I missed Talk Like a Pirate Day this year. But Catherine Friess remembered, and made a Story Snug post with a great selection of pirate picture books.

The concept of the "Little Free Library" is a new one for me, but it seems like there are over 75,000 in the world! Elizabeth Dulemba blogs about the very special few that are decorated with her artwork.

Another SCBWI-BI author takes their turn to be interviewed for Emma Perry's My Book Corner. This time, it's Clare Helen Welsh, who talks about her work ethic, the joys of saying "yes" and her new picture book How Rude!

Finally, I mentioned one-inch art last time, but the craftsmanship in these tiny drawings is so amazing that I can't help including them again! John Shelley has posted another batch and here are some by Elizabeth Dulemba as well.

  1. Thanks Nick. Great round up - as always. I loved Kelly's blog post too. We can be so hard on ourselves sometimes. It is important to remember what we have already achieved as writers and/or illustrators.

We love comments and really appreciate the time it takes to leave one.
Interesting and pithy reactions to a post are brilliant but we also LOVE it when people just say they've read and enjoyed.
We've made it easy to comment by losing the 'are you human?' test, which means we get a lot of spam. Fortunately, Blogger recognises these, so most, if not all, anonymous comments are deleted without reading.
